Turnaround time is usually 3 to 4 weeks from the time I receive your order.  During busy times of the year (such as Christmas) it may take a little longer to complete your piece.  If you need the drawing to be completed by a particular date, let me know ahead of time, and I will let you know if it is a possibility.

Prices*

Prices for graphite pencil drawings are approximately  $1.75 per square inch  for single subjects.  Because each work of art is unique, I can not give exact prices before seeing your photos and discussing your desires for the final piece.  Some subjects are much easier to render than others.  The actual price may therefore be more or less expensive than shown on the chart below.

*All prices include insurance and shipping of the artwork.

Multiple subjects - add 60% for each additional subject.  The reason for this is that the same detail work goes into capturing the subtleties of every subject, just at a slightly reduced size.  A drawing with two subjects will take nearly twice as long to draw as the same size drawing with only one subject.

I can produce your drawing in any size that you desire.   Standard sizes fit nicely into stock mats and frames, giving you the option to avoid high priced custom framing and matting.  Simply let me know what your wishes are.  All drawings come unmatted and unframed, and are sprayed with a high quality protective art fixative.

I will gladly draw other subjects, such as buildings, automobiles, landscapes, nature, and so forth.  If you would like to commission a piece of art other than a portrait, contact me and we can discuss options and pricing.

I also do color drawings.  If you are interested in a color drawing, please email me, and we can discuss a price.

How to submit your photos:

Choosing a Reference Photo

Many find that a good pencil rendering will be more beautiful than the original photo.  However, it is important to remember that  when choosing a photo as a drawing reference, the quality of the photo is directly related to the quality of the finished drawing.  The larger, crisper, and more detailed the photo, the better.  Blurry, un-detailed, and tiny photos are very difficult to produce a nice drawing from.  Try to find photos where subjects are in focus.  If you can see the details of the eyelids (such as lashes), and the whites of the eyes are visible, it is usually a good photograph.  If you have questions about a particular photo, please contact me.  I will be happy to offer advice and discuss options in order to give you the best drawing for your money.

Email:

Email your scanned or digital photos in JPEG format.

If you scan photos, be sure to scan them at a high resolution, at least 300 dpi.  A file size of 1 to 2 MB is generally of good quality.  A file that is smaller than 500 KB is generally of too poor quality to make a good drawing reference.   If you don't have access to a scanner, Kinko's (or similar print shop) will scan your photos professionally for a nominal fee.
